Why we built this

A ledger underneath Making Tax Digital, built by people who wanted their own numbers to reconcile.

Our mission

Making Tax Digital asks sole traders and landlords to report four times a year instead of once. That is only manageable if the underlying books are already in order, which for most people they are not — the records live across a spreadsheet, a shoebox and a bank app, and get assembled under pressure at the deadline.

We build the part that has to be right first: a ledger that balances, a reconciliation you can trust, and figures that trace back to postings you can point at. Get that straight and the quarterly update stops being an event.

How we build it

🔒

Privacy first

Your financial data stays yours. We don't connect to banks or share your information with third parties. You control your data completely.

Deterministic by design

Matching, posting, the trial balance and your tax figures are all computed, never estimated. Where we use a language model it writes commentary over numbers that were already worked out, and it goes nowhere near anything tax-related.

Nothing posts unreviewed

Every suggestion arrives as a draft in a queue. You approve it, and the approval is recorded against your name and the time you gave it.

Our story

Flow Money Manager started as a tool for keeping one household's accounts straight, built by someone who wanted the numbers to reconcile without handing a third party the keys to a bank account.

Making Tax Digital for Income Tax changed what was needed. Quarterly reporting demands a real ledger underneath, so that is what we built: double-entry posting, a reconciliation engine, period close, and figures mapped to HMRC's own categories. The privacy stance did not change — you still import your own statements, and we still do not touch your bank.

Our values

  • Transparency: No hidden fees, no surprise charges. What you see is what you get.
  • Privacy: Your data belongs to you. We never sell or share your information.
  • Simplicity: Finance is complex enough. Our tools shouldn't add to that complexity.
  • Empowerment: We give you the tools and insights to make your own financial decisions.
